Accountant

Role: Accountant

Job description:

  • General Accounting
  • Ensure all month end checklist items are completed by staff responsible for payroll, purchasing/accounts payable and sales/accounts receivable
  • Review of preliminary Trial Balance (TB) and General Ledger
  • Prepare month-end reconciliation of all bank and investment accounts
  • Maintain the fixed asset sub-ledger to ensure that capital additions, depreciation expense and accumulated depreciation are current and properly recognized and posted.
  • Identification, preparation and posting of month end accounting and adjusting journal entries including for inventory, work in process cost of goods sold
  • Identification, preparation and posting of month end accruals and reversal of same
  • Document and maintain month end working papers
  • Finalize TB and prepare draft financial statements (Income statement, balance sheet, cash flow)
  • Review month-end working papers and financial statements with the CFO
  • Prepare the accounting system for month end closing and open a new accounting period.
  • Year-end Support
  • Maintain all documentation including contracts, leases, purchase orders, invoices, loan documents, investment documents throughout the year
  • Prepare and provide documentation to the auditors against an annual requirements list
  • Work with other staff in the Finance team and other departments to ensure information requirements are met
  • Support the CFO in the completion of the Year-end review engagement

  • Enter excel invoices into QuickBooks
  • Administration of Accounts Payable
  • Receipt and entry of invoices
  • Reconciliation of invoices to Purchase Orders
  • Processing and posting payments
  • Payroll support
  • Entry of employee time sheets into QuickBooks and posting of payroll expenses to correct General Ledger Accounts
  • Preparation of government funding claims

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary certificate in accounting or Finance
  • 1-3 years related experience in accounting administration
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment & knowledge of the federal Scientific Research & Experimental Development (SR&ED) program would also be assets, but not required
  • Able to Work in Collingwood as well as remotely
  • Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $40,000.00-$55,000.00 annual
