Collingwood, Ont., Jan 7th, 2018 • Sensor Technology Ltd. is pleased to announce the addition of Geoff MacIntyre to the team as the new Head of Business Development. Geoff comes to Sensor Technology with almost 20 years experience in the ocean technology industry, most recently with Sea-Bird Scientific and Satlantic Inc. “I’m thrilled that Geoff is joining the SensorTech team! The timing is perfect, as we are really positioning ourselves for growth in the coming years and Geoff’s skills and experience will be a huge asset for the company,” said Niru Somayajula, President & CEO.
Geoff will be based out of our Atlantic Canada location at the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship (COVE) in Dartmouth, NS and will be helping Sensor Tech develop and grow our ocean acoustic sensor business, both in Atlantic Canada and across the globe. “I am excited to be part of the diverse business of piezoelectric ceramics and ocean acoustic sensors. There are many attractive application areas and I am looking forward to evaluating the many opportunities that lie ahead for us”, said Geoff.
Geoff has extensive experience in the ocean science and technology industry. After graduating with a Master of Science degree in Oceanography from Dalhousie University, he Joined Satlantic Inc. as a Field Support Scientist participating in several international oceanographic cruises and missions. During his time at sea, Geoff developed a keen appreciation for the challenging environment that customers endure and the unique product requirements that result. Geoff nurtured this customer-centric mindset as he completed an MBA at St. Mary’s University and moved into roles in Product Management, Marketing and Business Development with Sea-Bird Scientific, a leading ocean sensor technology company.
SensorTech is actively growing its employee base in Nova Scotia with plans for 5 full time employees over the next 2 months. We added Derek Mackenzie as Operations Manager to run the facility at Cove. Derek comes with a background in running his own construction businesses in the Toronto area, but his love for the ocean brought him back to his roots in Nova Scotia. Gennavieve Ruckdeschel joined SensorTech in the fall as an Acoustic Technician, with a background in Marine Science from Dalhousie University. As the Cove manufacturing facility gets up and running, we’ll be adding Production Technicians to the SensorTech family as well.
