Calibration & Testing Team Lead · Collingwood, Ontario

We are seeking a Calibration & Testing Team Lead to lead a newly established team within Sensor Technology Ltd.

The successful candidate will build and coordinate a multidisciplinary team composed of acoustic technicians collaborating with various business functions to facilitate new product development, existing product testing and calibration, and contribute to the mechanical and electrical evaluation of STL and customer sensors.  The ideal candidate will utilize their metrological experience to lead all calibration and testing endeavors. Furthermore, this role will supervise and assure the maintenance of test equipment within Sensor Technology’s new Acoustic Calibration Tank Facility. These capabilities will include “in-air” and “in-water” equipment and testing.  As the Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all calibration and testing tasks are meticulously executed to support various businesses and customers’ requirements.

Hours of Work: This is a full-time position working 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and coordinate a team of skilled acoustic technicians and collaborate across various business functions. Your leadership will foster a culture of innovation and precision in new product development, existing product enhancement, and comprehensive sensor evaluation
  • Calibration Expertise: Take charge of the planning and design of our Acoustic Testing and Calibration Program including the establishment of a state-of-the-art Acoustic Calibration Tank Facility You will ensure the highest standards of accuracy and reliability in calibration and testing to meet and exceed business and customer expectations
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and operational readiness of all test equipment, ensuring that our facilities remain at the forefront of technological advancements
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to contribute to the evaluation of STL’s and our customers’ sensors, playing a critical role in product development and quality assurance

 

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in the industry, with a preference for those familiar with ISO/IEC 17025 environments and metrology
  • Skills: Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., CAD, MATLAB, C++, COMSOL). Competence in coding, technical troubleshooting, and basic project management. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication abilities
  • Attributes: Detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting, and adept at both independent and collaborative work
  • Requirements: Must be physically able to lift up to 45 lbs, navigate stairs, obtain security clearance if needed, and be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Key Qualities: Integrity, professionalism, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and commitment to excellence
